Idea generation with Jeremiah #3

GROUP TUTORIAL

Jeremiah started the tutorial by going over the learning agreement and requirements for the production pack. This was helpful just to be able to see all the criteria that we will need to hit. It helps to break down everything i need to get done.

Notes I got from the tutorial:

Begin to put together a production folder:
-creative process
-concept development
-development and production methods.

-Think about logistics of an idea.
-Don't give yourself a lot of risks to assess.
-Think of this more as experimental.
-The next unit will be more refined.

Kaitlan
-Memories/Artificial Intelligence
-Focusing on how memories are stored, lost and created.
-Can machines learn and process memory?
-'Do Androids dream of electric sheep?' by Philip.K.Dick

Victoria
-Windows
-24/7 Exhibition, London
-Jonathan Crary
-What's happened to conversation? While living in times like these (covid). Looking through windows is a form of communication.
-Could be a representation of a house/a metaphor, instead of a physical form.
-Theme of loneliness?

Antonio
-Identity
-Multi screen work
-Screen capture
-Google maps
-Marketing
Feedback from class and Jeremiah for Antonio
-Don't make it commercial/consumer driven
-Make it more conceptual.
-It's mainly aesthetically focused at the moment, there's no real depth or drive for it.
-You need to think beyond what looks good and think about what will make an impact and what will be interesting to develop and learn from.

Avani
-Maps of the human body
-Body as a canvas
-More metaphorical when looking at it
-Combination of human body network and real mapped networks e.g- tube maps.
-Female body

One of my ideas- 'Six Degrees of Separation'
-I want to involve narrative within this theme somehow.
-Applying the theory specifically.
-Digital performance online?
-It doesn't have to take the form of a moving image work.
-Digital performance is a whole other area.
-'Digital Performance' by Steve Dixon.
-Jeremiah suggested, however, that as this is already a proven and solidified theory, it would be difficult to find ways to bring it into my own work. As i don't have a clear idea of how i'd apply the theory to my work anyway, i do agree with him.

Other idea- 'Alternative ending story'
-Create a story where its ending is dependant on the choices the reader makes.
-'Twine': An open-source tool for telling interactive, nonlinear stories.
-'Black Mirror: Bandersnatch': 2018 film.
-Interactive fiction/E-poetry
-Locally sourced one to be displayed physically and digitally online too.

*NEXT MONDAY WE HAVE TO PITCH OUR IDEA FOR 3 MINUTES.
